Since 1936 three generations of the Teahen family have been serving families in the Cedar Rapids, Marion, Fairfax, Hiawatha, Palo, Atkins, Swisher, Robins and Center Point metro areas with caring and dignified service.
This heritage of personal service began in January 1936 when Henry and Marian Teahen converted the Teahen family residence at 600 First Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids into a funeral home. Following Henry’s death in 1966, Marian continued the family tradition with her son, Peter R. Teahen. In 1978, they built the present funeral home at 3100 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids. Marian Teahen remained active in funeral service until her death in 2007. The tradition of personal service is carried on today by the founder’s son Peter R. Teahen and granddaughter, Elizabeth M. Teahen.
At Teahen's, we value your business and your trust, and strive to build relationships across generations. Today, after 87 years of service to the area, we have 2 spacious chapels for services and we host the Monarch Room, a community room on the first floor with seating up to 165, for receptions or gatherings, a large merchandise selection room, and arrangement offices.
Dealing with the death of a loved one can be one of the most difficult times in the life cycle of any family. It is a time when friendship, love, support and understanding are so critically important to the surviving family members. While serving families of all faiths, our staff offers personalized services, sincerely performed in a spirit of care.
